“Our mission is to empower people to grow what they eat…”

Why We Grow

At Sugar Snap Gardens, our mission is to empower people to grow what they eat by turning everyday landscapes into beautiful, productive spaces that nourish homes and communities with abundance and joy.

We believe growing food at home should feel doable — not overwhelming. A well-designed garden doesn’t just produce vegetables. It creates small daily moments that feel good: stepping outside to gather fresh herbs, watching tomatoes ripen, and sharing extra lettuce with a neighbor. It brings food closer to the table and makes your outdoor space feel alive and purposeful.

We design edible and ecological landscapes that complement your property and lifestyle. That means paying attention to sunlight, soil, water, and flow — and building structures that are sturdy, practical, and built to last. The goal is a garden that feels intentional and natural, not complicated.

Most importantly, we’re here to help you feel confident. With thoughtful planning and ongoing guidance, we help you build skills season after season so your garden keeps getting better. In the end, it’s not just about the harvest — it’s about creating a healthier environment, a stronger connection to your land, and the quiet satisfaction of growing something yourself.

Why Work With Us?

Our Team

Farmer Jamie

Jamie’s love of growing started with what she calls her “vegetable awakening” in high school, when a single zucchini flower stopped her in her tracks. That small moment was a catalyst that sparked something bigger — a curiosity about soil, seasons, and the quiet magic of watching food grow.

She followed that spark into the study of environmental science and organic agriculture, and eventually into hands-on work on farms across the U.S. and abroad. Each farm deepened her understanding of how healthy soil, thoughtful planning, and human connection all work together to create abundance.

In 2023, Jamie founded Dancing Greens Farm, where she experienced firsthand the power of bringing people and farms together. She saw how growing food can build confidence, community, and a deeper relationship with the land.

At Sugar Snap Gardens, Jamie’s goal is simple: bring the farm closer to home. She helps people turn their own yards into productive, living spaces — places where food, learning, and everyday life meet.

'Head of Growth'

Builder Andy

Andy’s path to agriculture wasn’t linear — it was earned. Raised around his grandparents’ chicken farm in North Georgia, he once saw farming as endless chores. Years later, after volunteering on farms in Italy, that early exposure came full circle and grew into a genuine love of cultivating food and working with the land.

Originally trained in the study, practice, and teaching of painting, Andy brings an artist’s eye to everything he builds. His long-standing passion for carpentry and woodworking evolved through hands-on experience in a home building firm and eventually led him to operate his own sawmill. From framing structures to crafting finished furniture, he combines structural knowledge with careful craftsmanship.

When he’s not building, Andy can often be found foraging for wild mushrooms — a pursuit that reflects his deep curiosity about forests, soil, and seasonal rhythms. That attentiveness to natural systems carries into his work at Sugar Snap Gardens, where every raised bed, arbor, and garden structure is built to be both durable and thoughtfully integrated into the landscape.

Poppy

‘Chief Garden Companion and Pea Enthusiast’

Poppy loves the farm almost as much as she loves sugar snap peas. She spends her days frolicking between the beds, taste-testing the harvest, and keeping watch for overly confident rodents. Every garden needs a little joy — and Poppy delivers.
